Meet Emily

Emily and her family moved to Vancouver, BC from Taiwan when she was just a toddler. She began learning the piano when she was two years old. Through the Royal Conservatory of Music, Emily was awarded distinction and honours in her piano and written theory exams.

Emily studied at the University of Victoria where she obtained her Bachelor of Music. She studied music with a focus in piano and has received private piano instruction from several instructors including pianist Eva Solar-Kinderman, pianist and conductor Dr. Yoomi Kim, and pianist Bruce Vogt. During her studies at UVic, Emily participated in the Chamber Choir Ensemble led by Dr. Adam Con, numerous collaborations with her fellow colleagues, and played in studio recitals hosted by the School of Music department. Aside from her music courses, she also took interests in linguistic courses in French and in science courses in Biology.

In Fall 2021, Emily volunteered at Gorge Road Hospital in Victoria, BC where she provided musical entertainment in the long-term care centre. In July 2022, she began working in the Division of Continuing Studies at UVic where she helped international students improve their English speaking and language skills. In August 2023, she became a faculty member at TAOZ Piano Studio while also teaching her own students in the Lower Mainland.

Aside from her work, Emily enjoys travelling, cooking, baking,  and dabbles in photography.
